Everytime I hear this song, emotions run through me uncontrollably. Emotions that I wish do not exist and should not have been there. But foolishly, I still want you to stay. Perhaps I am childish and wilful, perhaps I am naive to believe you, to believe in the human in you, to put myself through all these for nothing. Sometimes I really don't know whether what I see and hear are the truth anymore. But I know what I have to do.

Thats the beauty of the song. It expresses my feelings so vividly and at the end of the song, it reminds me that I should be moving on-- which is the right thing to do. I know what I have to do. I just need a bit more time, a bit more determination.

I am grateful for friends that I have. Thank you for being there for me. Thank you for sharing with me your God and how he can be mine too. I hope that I will be able to welcome him into my empty heart.

I am coping with this strange new lonliness. I go out with friends but I just can't help but turn around to look for you. sigh..

Here's something that I heard recently about the language of love: touch, time, service, words, gifts. It sounds cheesy at first but on second thought, it is so true.

Some feel loved when their partner gives them hugs, kisses etc..

Some feel loved when their partner spends quality time with them..

Some feel loved when their partner does things for them, use actions to show their love for them..

Some feel loved when their partner showers them with gifts of love..

So true.. I see people around me that use such language to express their love. For me.. Service and time are my languages of love. I enjoy doing things for the person I love and I enjoy spending time with him. I feel loved when he wants to spend his free time with me and want to do things together.

Its been so long since i blogged.. I think no one is here looking at my blog anymore.. =p But I just need somewhere that I can pour out everything that I am feeling before I go boomz.. Somewhere where I wun be on the verge of tears when I talk abt stuff.

Eileen's 21st birthday party!
Defnitely the most interesting birthday party this year! Cos everyone had to wear their school uniforms for it! Hee! Finally I have a chance to wear my uniform again! But it was quite weird to drive in that uniform.. Just feels wrong.. Haha.. I was wondering whether we'll get stopped by the traffic police.. =p Anyways, loads of photos!

DnD 2007 - Noir!
Just came back from DnD'07! Not bad! Carlton Hotel was good! The food was ok (espcially the dessert! =p) and the place was nice too! The first thing I told everyone when we got our tickets was that I would win a lucky draw prize that night and guess what? I did! Haha.. Feels like a really lucky year to me! Cos Fabrique Factory seems to be doing rather well too. Especially recently Ms Elim Chew of 77th Street has expressed interest in our products and wans to sell them in her shops!! Thats like OMG right? Haha.. Ok ok sidetracked a little there.. Anyways, Moses is the SCIENCE KING!! Woohoo!

Bash at DXO!
Thats the thing that totally saved my car this morning. Because I went for the bash and because Robin went and a whole lot of factors due to the bash, I reached home at 1.30pm this morning and parked my car at the highest filled level. That totally saved my car from being burnt from the fire. Haha.. Anyways, I was up for another 2 hours doing some finishing touches on some of our hp pouch orders, during which my poor bro's fan burnt out n died, and I went to bed at 3.30am.

At around 4.30am, my mum pulled off my blankets and was screaming at me about some fire. My first thought was my bro's room is on fire!!! Luckily not. It was the carpark. There were loads of thick, black smoke spewing out from the first 3 levels of the carpark and little but loud explosions could be heard constantly. It wasa wonder I didn't get woken up by the noise. Haha..

Anyways, in my blur and half-awake state, my mum managed to send me into panic cos I thought my car was on fire too. So anyways me n my dad grabbed the car keys and ran downstairs to save the cars. The fire was on both sides of decks 1 and 2 so there was absolutely no way that I was going to get to my car.. But judging from where the smoke was coming out from, it was obvious that my car was safe, in fact one of the safest.. Haha.. There were loads of worried car owners and bike owners standing around. My poor dad parked his car on the first deck, where most of the fire was at and he kept wanting to get in! I tried to stop him but luckily some other uncles helped to stop him. N the policeman too! Oh well, anyways they took super long to put out the fire and the poor bikes look like skeletons now..

I guess now nobody will want to park on the lots next to the bikes and the first deck! Haha.. =p

Happy birthday to me! =>

Finally an adult! Haha.. So I am suddenly more mature? Haha.. Anyways, today I only had a simple celebration with my family with a humongous key-shaped cake thanks to my crazy sis.. Lol.. The cake was so big that it can't fit into the fridge and my mum had to store it in my bro's room with the air-con on so that the cake won't melt! =p

Okies thats the humongous cake.. Haha.. I know its rather old-fashioned but its how I always pictured my 21st bday cake to be like (though not that big..)

Before that me and Robin went to town for dinner at Thai Express.. Well, actually we already celebrated last Friday before Rag. We went for a buffet Japanese meal at restaurant in the Amara Hotel. Yummy! Best Jap food I've had so far! =p

Its one good news after another! We've been asked to be interviewed by Seventeen magazine!! Thats like OMG rite? Haha.. And Robin was just telling me about why we should list our stuff in the US since the market is big there.. And guess what? We checked the email after the cake and we got an email notification saying that we've won 6 months worth of free suscription for listing in the US! What a coincidence! Haha.. Cool..

Enough of all those "Life is unfair" lessons! I seem to be getting a lot of those lately! Especially when I don't see why it just has to be me sacrificing important experiences for others for reasons that I don't deem to justify for my sacrifice! I'm past the stage when I'm in denial. I've tried to convince her that I deserve to be entitled the same chances as everyone else but all the reasons she gave me just doesn't give me enough reason to stop trying to fight for my rights. Grrrr.... I'm so freaking pissed that I'm so tired of school.

Yup finally the day of the results came and passed.. We went down to ITE East early in the morning for the results presentation today and we got 3rd! Haha.. Not bad for a first attempt at starting up a business and joining an entrepreneurship competition. =p

Urghhh... That usually means that sch is starting again! Haiz.. Sians.. And being always so blur about my modules, I just realised that I haven't cleared my 2 extra breadth modules for Honours! Super sian lor.. Well at least I still have 2 more level 1000 modules AND 2 more S/U s left. I'm gona use them all together!! Muahaha... But I'm really not sure whether I should take one of the breadths this sem.. I have 4 FST core modules plus I'm also doing UROPS!! Taking another module would seem crazy but I dun tink its a good idea to take them during honours year with the FYP at hand. And i dun wana do special sem too! Grrrrr... Tink I'll hafta be a super mugger this sem too.. Haiz.. Will someone pls tell me if I'm doing a crazy thing taking 6 modules this sem?

Well it was a fun first biz experience for me, tiring at times but still valuable experience, even though we don't earn much from it.. I guess it just occupies my free time in the holidays since I'm not working most of the time in June. =p This thing only takes up a little of our time nowadays so we were thinking might as well just continue on with it.. haha.. Too bad Liling can't join us cos she has a full time job now.. Jiayou girl!! Don't forget us when u become a rich insurance agent! Haha.. So for now I have to 'force' my mum to stand in.. Haha..

Warning: Long entry ahead

The much awaited holiday trip is finally over! My flight back was on Sunday night and it totally sucked to have to start work immediately the next day.. Sians.. Oh well.. And here I am sitting in the FST lab "working" and blogging at the same time.. Haha.. Its so incredibly boring here and I can't keep thinking about taiwan.. I wana go back! Haha.. But I tink I would rather go to Sydney again cos people speak English there and even though its freaking bright in summer, there cool breeze and the temperature is not crazy high (36oC) like in Taiwan..

Overall the Taiwan trip was fun! It felt more like a super super long weekend to me. We went to loads and loads of night markets (I think we conquered almost all the night markets in Taipei) and did some shopping ( I would say a moderate amount of shopping though i think robin would disagree.. =p), some tourist-y stuff and walked a whole lot.

Taipei is very much like Singapore, especially the MRT system. They're also using EZ-link cards! Except that their version is called EZ card. Taking the MRT is super cheap there, esp if you have the EZ card. Every trip costs only abt NT16 (SGD0.80!!!).

Loads of culture shock too.. The first thing was that everything was in Chinese and everyone spoke super fantastic Chinese (like duh rite? haha). But the incredible amount of chinese is still overwhelming. =p Then they actually have queue lines marked out on the floor for the passengers in the mrt stations! I was quite surprised to see pple queueing up near the train door! But then when the train comes everyone just ditch the queue and crowd around the entrance like in Singapore, but they are definitely more aggresive. Haha.. So I duno why they even bother to queue in the first place. They are also very particular about standing on the right of the escalator when travelling on it! It was so cute.. Haha.. And the most disturbing of all: they dun throw their used toilet paper down the bowl. They are disposed of in the bins in the cubicle.

Taiwan is like a super fan of recycling. Its quite hard to find rubbish bins in taiwan but if u ever see one, they usually come in 2s or 3s cos u hafta separate your rubbish into the correct bins. Even in fast food restaurants you have to clear your own tray and separate the food remnants and wrappers into the respective bins! And they hardly give out plastic bags too.. =p

Hmm.. And here's our itinerary.. =p

Day 1: 7 july saturday

Our Jetstar flight (3K521) was set for departure at 13 00. So we reached Changi airport early and had lunch there. Jetstar flights do not allow outside food and drinks and their food are super super ex.. But I guess when u're that high up, u have no choice but to get from them ba.. =p And guess wat, our luggage was only about 7kg each! =p

Our flight got delayed slightly at Changi airport cos only 1 runway was in use. And the pilot got super sarcastic about it! LOL.. So we reached Taipei only at about 18 00 and took a bus to the city. Our first night was spent in the Key Mall Hostel and we got the VIP room! Well, not like it was that great.. It was still a hostel.. The room only had a raised platform with mattresses on it.. Still v comfy and nice view of the city too, since we're on the 22nd storey.

We dropped our stuff and went off to the famous shilin night market!!! Haha.. It was really crazy there. The place is humongous la! Haha.. Ate a whole lot of food that we always see the Taiwan artistes eating on the TV shows. And of cos we had to try the XXL chicken! Its double the size of the Singapore version!! Cool!

Day 2: 8 july sunday

We woke up at around 5am and checked out so that we could get tickets on the train to Hualien that day. We tried to get them the night before but they were all sold out! Well, thanks to our kiasu-ism, we managed to get the tix and we were off to Hualien! The trains are quite good and the seats are definitely much better as compared to the Jetstar seats! Haha..

Hualien is also freaking hot and it doesn't make it any better that the hostel room does not have air-conditioning at all! Super cheaterbugs la! Oh well, in any case our room was much much better than my sister and frens' room. We had a cool Japanese style room but they had a makeshift room with just 2 fans and 2 double-decked beds.

We didn't do much that day, mainly exploring and shopping around the downtown area of Hualien. There's this shop with yellow signboards and it sells super good muahchee! Especially when you eat it when it is freshly made! I think its the one that wu zongxian went to on one of his variety shows.

At night we took a cab down to Qi Xing Tan (recommended by my sis). Its a beach that doesn't have sand. Instead, its shore is covered with pebbles of varying sizes! It was quite cool to walk on them. We spent some time sitting near the water, enjoying the cool breeze and waiting for shooting stars. Haha.. Too bad we din see any.. =p oh well...

And the supper for that night was beef instant noodles and fruit juice!! They have super nice fruit juice! Tastes so much better than the Singapore versions and their drinks also come in slightly larger packaging! The instant beef noodles came with beef chunks that Robin loved so much that he filled his bag full of them to bring back to Singapore. =p It was funny watching him worry about whether the Jetstar people would allow him to bring the instant noodles onto the flight. =p

Day 3: 9 july monday

Once again me and Robin woke up super early to get train tickets. This time it was for the trip back to Taipei. (Anyways, the sun rises super early in Taiwan! It was already bright and sunny even though we woke up at 5am!) We walked to the train station, which was about 20 mins walk away, and somewhere along the way a black dog started to follow us! Haha.. It followed us across the roads and all the way to the train station! While we were in the station queueing to get tix, it waited outside the station for us! Haha.. After that it even followed us to the breakfast stall that we ate at. It went away while we were having brekkie so i guess it found someone else to tag along. =p

**Taiwanese are real dog lovers! Most people have pet dogs and they bring them around everywhere! There's this mall in Shilin night market that has many pet shops and they all have super cute puppies!!! I want one too!!!

We went on the Taroko Gorge tour organised by the hostel pple with my sis and frens and a german guy who's going to do his Phd soon! OMG.. Anyways Taroko was very beautiful and the tour was v fun since it was only a small group of us young peeps so we got to go to places that the big tour groups don't usually go.. Like we went up the super steep and super long flight of stairs.. The most memorable part was the last stop.. We went on this trail that we had to walk through a few PITCH BLACK tunnels to finally reach the water curtain cave. It is basically just a cave with water coming out of the ceiling of it. So if you walk through it u'll definately get drenched. The water was freezing cold and it was great for cooling us down after the mornings activities and stair-climbing. We din go to the last stop cos my sis got super sick after that.

Then we totally concussed all the way back to the hostel. We sat around for a while until it was almost time to catch out train. We checked into Happy Family Hostel after we reached Taipei and man the place is run-down! Oh well, I guess thats what u get for SGD15 per night. But it turns out that Happy Family was the most comfy of all the hostels, mainly cos it has AIR-CON! haha.. Well we had to pay for it but it was worth it! =p

That night we went to explore the Longshan Temple area, where they're a few night markets but they're full of old people. Haha...

Day 4: 10 july tuesday

Did more tourist-y stuff today.. Our first stop was the memorial hall ( there're 2 memorial halls.. can't remember which one i went to.. =p). It had a huge statue of the guo fu and there were 2 army guys standing SUPER still in front of it.. So still that I thot they weren't real pple at first.. Haha..

Then we walked over to the Taipei City Hall and Taipei 101, which is the landmark of Taipei. Walked around the area a little but all the shops were rather high end, pretty much like the Raffles city area. We got bored of the place and headed down to Wufenpu. It was really a shopping heaven for the girls! But the only downside was that the sccoters were allowed to travel in the walking areas. Apparenty some people go shopping on them. So annoying!

***The most common form of transport was scooters. The are SO many of them in Taipei! And the traffic in taiwan is crazy! You have to be a daredevil to cross the roads there. No one stops for pedestrians and they're drivers are really GOOD drivers cos they can drive super close to each other. The traffic rules are only guidelines to them and they have no problem driving anti-direction on the roads! And it doesn't help that they are using lft hand drive! Haha

The nearest night market was the Raohe Night Market. It mainly sells food and has a large variety of the local food.. Yummy!

Day 5: 11 july wednesday

More shopping at Ximending! This place is supposed to be like the Orchard Road equivalent but it feels very different! Not much shopping centres that we're so used to here but instead there're loads of shops along the buildings. Plus, the roads between the buildings are still open to the traffic (mainly scooters and a few cars occasionally). So we had to be careful when walking around the place. But the place was rather small and we covered every inch of the place within a few hours.

Since it was too early to go to the night market, which was next in our itinerary for the day, we decided to go try the desserts at Ice Monster since it was highly recommended in the travel guide. It turned out to be a very dramatic journey looking for the ice monster. It was in a rather long street, about 15 plus min away from the MRT station. Sounds ok except that it started to rain super heavily and we ended up walking in the heavy rain with a small umbrella. We were soaking wet by the time we found the Ice Monster. Haha.. The desserts there were a bit pricey but not bad.. Cool looking..

That night we explored the Shida Night Market, which is near the Taipei Normal University. ( i wonder wat's up with the "normal".. lol) As promised, the crowd and shopping stuff there were more for young people. :)

Day 6: 12 july thursday

Leofoo theme park!! We hitched a bus ride with the Leofoo Hotel chartered buses to the theme park, which is about 1hr away from the city. Since it was a weekday, the place was rather empty so we hardly had to queue for the rides at all. It felt quite cool to visit the place that I always see 5566 host their programmes at.

That night it was Shilin night market again. Tried more food and did more shopping! Mainly young people shopping again. Nice!

Day 7: 13 july friday

Beitou Hot Springs! Not a fun place to be during summer! Haha..

Walked around for most of the afternoon and headed up to Danshui in the evening. Fisherman's wharf is super nice! Then we explored the Old Street. Nice place cos its next to the shore and was much cooler than the other night markets. Loads of good food too!

Day 8: 14 july saturday

Took a train to Rueifang to go to Keelung and Jiufen. Seniors' recommendations. Cool places to visit but Jiufen is a huge tourist trap. haha..

Yup and thats the end of the trip! =p

Been long since I last posted.. Haha.. Very lazy to blog nowadays.. Oh well, quick update about whats going on for me for these few weeks then!
June is reserved for Scamp and so most days I'm at home, doing stuff for fabrique factory. And as before, I'm still surprised that how small things that I hafta do for fab fac can take up days. And after Scamp is always banner painting and id tag making week. Haha.. Nothing much going on there. =p Oh well, perhaps there'll be more to say after the actual camp! Haha.. Then it'll be time to bitch about freshies! =p

Great Singapore Sale! =)
Went GSS shopping a few times already.. Today I went to town with Eugene, who's silly enough to take the train from bouna vista to jurong east then down the red line to toa payoh.. Thats an hour and a half's worth of train ride la.. Haha.. Silly fella.. Anyways, we went duffel bag shopping today.. Been hoping to get a not too ex one for the upcoming scamp and the sort of backpacking trip to taiwan in july.. Haha.. Well we saw loads of nice ones from the surf shops and bagpacking supplies shops.. BUT in the end it was salvation from an unlikely source (as robin always puts it.. it seems to be his main source of new clothes! haha).. We bought it from Carrefour! Haha.. Its 24" and seems big enough.. And it only cost $16.90!! Haha...

Lets see.. So far I've already bought a backpack and a duffel bag.. Hoping to get a wallet too! Haha.. But I'm quite sick of orchard already.. =p

Oh and we went to visit constance today at toa payoh! Haha.. She looks so pro in her formal work attire!! Haha.. I miss con con!! Haven't seen her for so long! =p Hopefully we'll get time to go out and even play badminton.. =p

Feeling lazy to blog nowadays.. Probably cos I've converted to be working full-time for fabrique factory and being a part time tutor. Haha.. Though it may seem like I dun hafta do much for our biz venture since my job is to take care of everything related to the materials, like stocking up on stuff and posting pictures of them on our online catalogue etc, such stuff seems to take up a surprisingly large amount of time, especially with shopping for materials.

For instance, last thursday and friday was spent getting materials even though the 2 main places that I go to for stuff is bugis area and chinatown. Well thursday was vesak day and thus a public holiday. Learning from the lesson of labor day, I knew that the shops at arab street and textile centre were not open and planned to go to these places on friday. So i thought maybe me and robin could go to bras brasah's art friend and get the iron-ons for the orders and maybe get some new stuff. And guess what, art friend was closed too! Sians.. Ended up not getting anything on thursday, maybe except getting into a lot of traffic jams.

And therefore friday was spent totally on this job again, going to arab street, bras brasah and then to chinatown. Got loads of really cool stuff, which meant that I had a lot of photoshop-ing stuff to do when i got home. Getting the pictures of the stuff onto the catalogue is actually a rather tedious process. Well maybe for a nooby user of photoshop. Haha.. But well, its sort of fun in a way, occupies time such that every waking moment of my day is spent doing something constructive. Haha.. But usually I end up feeling more achy all over. =p

And I realised that it is also my job to take care of all the customer's (or clients, as robin likes to call them) orders and desire for TOTAL customisation of the laptop sleeves. Its crazy.. Especially with the iron-on diamonds. Doing up the actual designs with the diamonds takes me hours! Haha.. I'm amazed how liling actually manages to get them to stay on the cloth long enough to iron them, especially when I'm having difficulty handling them on paper! Everytime I take them out to do some design I lose some!! Oops.. I'm sorry I'm losing precious materials... Haha..

Talking about materials and capital, when me n robin were shopping at art friend, we got a call from the organisers of the ebay competition. We are going to be featured in the june (or july? i'm not sure) feature of the month thingy on ebay!! And on top of that we'll be paid US500 for it! How great is that? It suddenly feels like the biz venture became capital guarenteed and we're getting loads of profits! Haha.. PLUS, the person said that we had good chance of winning! Yay!! Prize money!! Haha.. Will pay for my taiwan holidays then! =p

Tiring weekend!! Had my first overnight mahjong session with the citibank ah longs (robin, jiaho and candice aka candy!) at rob's house on friday night.. It didn't feel that long, surprisely.. Especially since I was having such bad luck with my cards. My luck always runs out when my cards are damn nice already and I'm just waiting for the last last card.. It never comes! Haha.. Super suay...... Well, at least jiaho was more suay than me! Haha.. Poor dude... Think he didn't even have a little bit of luck that night! =p Sorry man, this is not your year to mahjong!

Pretty much slept the whole of sat away to build up energy for sunday! Sentosa day! As usual, the weather at sentosa was freaking hot. Bright sun, hot breeze (if any), scalding sand. Totally opposite of Bondi. Bondi has cool sand, bright sun, loads of cool breeze and super great waves that makes u wana jump into them immediately. Well the sentosa sea is a total turn off and I stayed on the beach the whole day. But oh well, at least I got a nice tan again! Haha... Man, I'm so gona get skin cancer next time! And thanks to Weijian who brought his huge cooler! We had a constant supply of cool drinks throughout! Without which, I think we would have collapsed from heat exhaustion very very fast! Think loads of people were rather jealous too! =p So from now on, a cooler is a must-bring whenever we go to sentosa! Haha..

Everyday is so bz! Hafta go to the FST lab in the morning to start frying nuggets as sample preperation. Haha.. So I'm basically paid to fry 6 nuggets every half hour! =p Quite slack in between so I've been moonlighting.. Brought my laptop to school so that I can do up the pictures and posters neede for the Fabrique Factory stuff.. And I realised that photoshop is quite fun though it takes me hours and hours to finish doing up one "assignment". Haha.. I think it probably took me hours bcos there're a lot of functions that that I'm still learning and experimenting with.. But usually the problem is that I have too many choices that are all nice to me and I can't decide on which to use! Haha..

Haiz.. Pissed off day. It should had been an exciting day for the first business meeting. Well, anything can happen and you'll never know what unreasonable people you'll meet today. One more week to holidays!! Can't wait for the long break..

Got a letter about some organ donation act last night. It was personally delivered to me while I was having dinner. Read the letter during dinner and totally lost my appetite. Talk about good timing.. Haha.. They're asking me to decide what i wanna do with my corpse even before I hit 21. Thanks la... Feeling very undecided about the whole issue.. It would be the right thing to donate my organs after death since I have no use for them anymore but the thought of my body getting cut up and my body parts being in somebody else after I'm dead felt weird.. Haiz..

Been getting lots of people from the church coming past my house and pestering me to join in their home bible shring sessions, despite the fact that the first thing they see in my house is a buddhist altar. Strange right? I look like a free-thinker? Having 2 groups of such people coming by in a day while I mugging is NOT the best time. Haha..

Talentquest is over!

It was a exciting day with loads of anticipation, excitement, etc etc. I was the host nanny again but this time the name of the postition was changed to hosts' assistant. Haha.. Think cos we got 2 DJs to be the hosts and they're damn pro la. Felt quite excited to meet them but there were too many things to do and time passed quickly. HAha.. No wonder i was wondering why I kept feeling hungry! Didn't get to watch the show at all since i was hiding backstage, cueing the hosts. Super stressed out initially la! Had to constantly watch the stage and screen for the progress of the show and listen to the walkie talkie for cues from the control room and be very clear about what happens when at every part of the show. Well the good thing was that the hosts were super pro and could handle any problems that came along. There were quite a few technical glitches (whats new rite?) here and there, some hiccups.. Oh well..
Throughout the whole show, people kept coming over to take fotos with the DJs. No wonder since they are famous personalities in the radio scene. Peifen is very friendly and very pretty!! She's so cute!! And Cruz is .... different. Hs's all smiley on stage but expressionless off stage. Think he needs to rest his face ba.. Haha! =p Well the advantage of being their nanny is that i get to take fotos with them whenever i want! Haha! So i dun hafta fight with other people to take fotos! Hee.. Liling i wan my fotos!!!! Haha...

Fixed the tyres today!
The damage was too much to seal so ended up having to change the tyre. It had a slash across the side la! And the front tyre had a razor blade stuck in it la! Haha.. Quite surprised when the guy pulled it out with tweezers. Spent a total of $150 and felt totally cheated. Haha.. Oh well.. Now the wheels on th front half of the car are from japan and the back half of the wheels are from malaysia. Haha.. And all throughout i felt that the "legs" of my car were being shifted around. Felt funny... =p

Punctured tire!

I knew something was wrong. There was a strange sound coming from the back wheels on the left. Stopped to check when i reached the carpark at robin's place and yep, its a punctured tire. Haiz.. Luckily we were at robin's place and his dad was home. He called his dad and he came down to help. Felt super embarrassed cos I've been driving the car for about a year and I wasn't confident about changing the tyres. Haha.. Didn't do much to help becos robin and his dad were doing most of the work. And my piggy torchlight finally came in handy! =p

Our lab reports were due on fri during lab. Got an email in the morning regarding some changes that had to be done to the calculations and so the deadline for the report was changed to Mon. Went for lab and the lecturer asked if anyone wanted to hand in the lab report and no one did becos no one has done the changes yet. The lecturer decided to minus marks from everyone becos no one submitted their lab reports. WTH.. Pissed......

Had to pay for parking in sci on fri. Confused and got refunded at the office. Got a call from the office demanding that I give them back the refund becos they suddenly decided to start their car park grouping thingy (something abt only allowing the pple who bought season parking for car park 10 to park there). I did not receive any notifications abt the change in system n refuse to pay them for it. The lady on the fone claims that the officer whom i bought the season parking from would definitely have briefed me about it. I knew that she was the one who sold me the season parking and she definitely DID NOT tell me about that. Pissed.....

Not much going on now except that I got this really great job in the FST lab as a research assistant under a PhD student. The pay's good and the job is interesting, related to what I'll probably be doing in the future.. PLUS I'll be employed throughout May and July! So I dun hafta worry about getting a job during the holidays AND I have no problems with SCAMP and work since SCAMP is in June! Haha...

Saturday: Sentosa!

It was the first time I drove into sentosa and it was quite cool. Went to Siloso beach for an afternoon of volleyball and some ultimate frisbee. Man I love the beach! But its still different from the beaches in Sydney. There, the beaches have cool sand, bright sun, cooling breeze, freezing waves and GIGANTIC waves! Here, no waves, the sun is scorching hot, not much breeze, hot sand and no waves.. Sians..
After that, we went to Vivocity and had a double date. Watched 300 and I thought that it was really good. The men all had boobs and 8 packs la! Haha..

Went for the NUS open house. It was quite boring cos I think its sunday and the crowd came on satudrday already. Sians.. Quite surprised that the school actually renovated the MPSH andthey were really impressive. Haha.. After lunch at the jap place at YIH we had a great badminton session at my house. Quite fun and I haven't had badminton sessions in a long time. Really miss those JC days when half of our class was in the badminton club. Constance! I miss playing doubles with you cos u're my twin! Haha..

Starting to feel guilty for not studying and doing work.. I really am playing too much nowadays.. Sigh....

Friday: FST CNY Reunion Dinner!

Its the first time I went for this dinner thingy and boy its a real serious event! There were A LOT of good food! Haha.. N loads of fst peeps from all the batches ever since fst started in nus! Cool sia.. Haha.. Some of them even brought their kids there! Haha..

Saturday: TQ Band Finals!

The TQ band finals was held at DXO on saturday! Have to say that the event was quite a success despite the delay in the program for about 40 minutes. We had to be there at 4pm but there were many people who were already there at 12 plus and everyone had to stay till around 1am that night. Super tiring even for the slacker me. Haha.. As usual I was the emcee "nanny", something like personal assistant but "nanny" is the term they used and it sounds funny. Haha.. And Richel (the emcee) kept calling me "nai ma". Think cos he can't remember my name. =p I sat at the self proclaimed emcee corner all night, keeping the time and making sure that the emcee doesn't crap too much. Haha.. Felt super slack compared to the rest of the program comm though. They had to jaga the bands and make sure that they appear for their turn and stuff like that. Overall the night was cool.. Loads of loud music, smoking and dizzy lights.. Din drink at all (surprisingly.. lol).. Haiz, dun tink I like these places that much though they have nice RnB music..

Me and Robin went to Queensway Shopping Centre in the afternoon before TQ and I practically spent all my ang bao money there on a new pair of pink and brown converse shoes and a new set of jogging attire! Haha.. Maybe the new set of clothes will inspire me to go jogging more often.. Love my new shoes! They're slightly pink and overall light brown (Liling says thats totally my type of colour! Yea its true! Haha.. ) They're really pretty and I can't wait to wear them! Haha.. Been getting loads of pink stuff lately.. Gotta stop that before I become a pink monster! Haha..

Sunday: TKD IVP!

Today me, Robin and Weijian went to support Sijie at NTU for the IVP. Its his first time taking part in the competition and he got a silver! Well he missed gold by jus half a point! Quite wasted la but good job! Haha.. First attempt leh! Haha.. As usual, put the 3 guys together and there were loads of suan-ing and weijian was the prime target of all the suan-ing.. Poor guy.. Met loads of other TKD friends and juniors there. Really felt like sparring when I was watching them compete.. Sigh.. But my TKD days feel like they are long over.. =<

First day at work in the FST lab and the spectro-something machine breaks down. The tiny little bugger costs over $20k la! Goodness! Saw all my past TAs in the lab and it felt weird since we're all doing the same things.. Talked to the people in the laband apparently the TA pay is $40 per hour for lab and $60 per hour for tutorial!!! And $100 per hour for lect! Oh man! Thats crazy la... Seems like my CnC $5 per hour pay sound like slavery.. Haha.. =p

Its CNY!!
We had reunion dinner at the coffe shop in yishun with nice tze char! But the meal was damn awkward since all the cousins who don't talk to each other were all meade to sit at the same table becos of some adults one table, kids one table rule. Sians.. And it was even worse when the auntie who served the food had to announce the name of EVERY dish in a high-pitched and super loud voice. Everyone at the table was trying hard not to burst out laughing la.. Especially the yusheng, cos she had to say something nice for everything that she adds and then end with a super loud and high-pitched scream that gave everyone a shock when she first did it at another table. Was praying hard that she wouldn't do that at our table but i guessed everyone's dishes were all the same.. Sians.. Not that fantastic like usual..

As usual, we went to malaysia for our first two days of CNY. It was a totally tiring two days filled with loads of speeding, headaches, stoning at relatives' place, collecting ang bao and the usual fare.. sians..

Went to Robin's godparents' house today. They have pet giant spiders and crabs la.. Quite awkward = sian situation.. =p

Had more fun visiting weijian's and sijie's houses today.. Cos more things to talk and laugh about ba.. Had mahjong session today and it was easier to play with pple who are not like of god status in the mahjong arena.. Haha.. Won and then lost a lot.. A LOT.. Haha.. Never play mahjong. (or at least with money) Gambling is bad for health. I'm glad we dun have a normal sized mahjong set at home. =p

V day!

Flowers always get delivered when I'm still sleeping! Haha.. Not that I sleep in that late though.. The delivery came at 9 plus la.. Haha.. We went for dinner at New York New York and the queue was crazy la. At first it was just cos it was dinner time and there were a lot of reserved tables. Then when we finally got our seats, they had some problems with the deep fryer and so many people had to wait super long for their orders. Yesh.. Including me.. Haha.. The poor couples standing outside! But well they had cotton candy to entertain themselves and those who din get the cotton candy must be thinking why they weren't offered. And so their being entertained too! Haha.. (Robin's theory!)

After that we watched Ghost Rider at The Cathay. The theatre was TOTALLY SOLD OUT!! Well the show was nice though... COOL.. =p

Shopping Day!

Real intensive shopping today! We shopped from 12pm till about 8 plus! Walked around Orchard and then to Suntec and Marina area. Not bad! Haha.. We managed to accomplish our tasks: to get 2 long sleeve shirts, a pair of black pants and a pair of jeans! Haha.. And we kept within the budget too! Thanks to the CNY sales (which should lose to the POST-cny sales).. Had dinner at Long John and had the usual combo 1. The serving was super super small, much less than usual and for some reason, I felt super pissed off. Haha.. So I sulked throughout my meal and I guess I wasn't being good company at all! =p

On our way back, we went in search of the Donut Factory at Raffles City, hoping to get some "Krispy Kreme". But the queue was horrendously long! So sad! Din get my sinful donuts in the end! Sians.. One of these days, I'll get the donuts! Muahahaha... (haha, i sound crazy.. =p)

I HIT ANOTHER CAR!
OMG! It finally happened. My first accident on the road. I was driving out from school onto the AYE. We were on the slip road, waiting to get on the expressway. I thought the toyota in front of me had moved off and so i checked my blind spot but he braked cos a MOTORBIKE was on the small road that runs parallel to the expressway for BUSES! It all happened suddenly and the next thing I know I had already hit the car in front and it bounced off like a bumper car. SHIT!
The guy pulled over in front and got out of the car. Lucky he was a nice guy and did not seem pissed. In fact he even said it was a common mistake! Maybe he's been in such situations before.. Haiz..
So anyway, I guess I'll have to pay for his damages (though I can't see any dents except for the distinctive marks of the picanto front stipes) but he says he might not go repair it.. Sians.. There goes my money~ I'm SO BROKE!

Went shopping at chinatown and vivocity with my mum today.. Love wednesdays! get to have a mid-week break which is good since its CNY soon. Chinatown was super hot today. Lucky not a lot of people.. Haha.. Starting to feel all festive now that we're putting up the CNY deco.. Can't wait! =p

Not much happening these days.. Last weekend was the first 2 quarterfinals for talentquest, held at Plaza Singapura. On Sat I was just helping out in whatever I can, soundcheck, security guard for the judges, etc, since I wasn't around in december and I din have any contestants to take charge of. Quite a few good looking pple I hafta say.. Haha.. The sound system was really quite bad and for almost all the contestants, everytime the song reaches the chorus, the music gets so loud that you almost can't hear them singing.. Even the golden village people complained that they could hear the music all the way inside the cinema.. Well I guess that means that their cinemas are not soundproof enough??
The second day was much much better.. I was tasked to be yuhan's nanny (he's the emcee) cos he was under a lot of stress and needs constant reminder (nagging) to mention the important stuff on stage. Haha.. Felt like a maid or something but it was still ok la.. Hee.. Most prob hafta do that again this coming sat.. =p

Yesterday was great! Got a new tuition offer in the morning before school and started that very night! Somemore the student, Eve, stays at North Oaks, which is just a 2 minute drive away.. Haha.. Well, I could walk there but that would take me at least 30mins or 2 super short bus rides. And since the parking in condos are free, I have the excuse to drive there! Haha.. The recreation areas in North Oaks is very nice but as usual, the apartments are quite small. Think the first floor residents have much better apartments cos they get to have a small "backyard" of their own! Quite cool right! Haha.. Would really love to have a place with a backyard in the future.. Then i can lie on the grass... =p

Good to have a mid-week break, especially when I'm still totally in the holiday mood. I know I hafta start studying soon cos analytical chemistry seems to be talking about all the parts of chemistry that I'm bad at! Electrochemistry and equilibria calculations! Gosh.. Thought I had managed to get rid of them at CM1101 but I guess as long as I'm doing science I can never get rid of them.. Sians.. Still considering whether I should get the textbook.. So ex!

So effectively I bladed from 11am to 5pm.. Tiring! my toes felt super squished by the end of it. We had yummy dinner at the seafood centre too! Then after being indecisive for every single decision we hafta make (like where to go, what to do, what movie to watch, where to watch and what time.. ) we finally settled on apocalypto at the cathay.. Thought the initial tribal setting of the show was just and introduction but the whole show was about the tribe and it was in some strange language! And throughout the show I was looking out for mel gibson's appearance and it turns out that he's the producer, not actor.. Hahas.. Loads of unneccessary gore and loads and loads of running.. The lead actor can really run! Haha.. =p

A super delayed post.. We celebrated our 2nd anniversary last saturday! Yup and we make our annual visit to the botanic gardens despite the high chance of rain. The weather held up and it was sunny for a short while. We got wet butts from sitting on non-water-proof ground sheets though.. Haha.. Not much has changed in the botanic gardens except for the new building at the Tanglin entrance. Real pretty place.. :)

I can park at Science carpark too! Haha.. It said "season holder" when i went in and out so i guess i'm allowed to park there too.. Heehee.. Made me feel much better going to school now cos I dun hafta go earlier so that i can get on a bus to science! Haha.. Super lazy me! Today (or rather yesterday) is Siaohui's 21st birthday! Wahaha.. We had Ajisen at Vivocity and watched Pan's Labyrinth. Quite a nice show.. Interesting but a lot of gory scenes..

Jet Lag.. I can't sleep past 7am.. And I fall asleep watching a movie at 6pm. Sians.. First week (or rather first 2 days) of school was ok, except that I kept feeling very tired and everyone calls me indian! Haha.. I didn't think that my tan was that dark! But nvm! I love it! Haha.. Hope it doesn't fade off so soon! And I'm having beach withdrawal syndromes! I kept wanting to go to the beach, like sentosa or East coast park but it won't be as good as coogee, maroubra and bondi! Sians.. Bring me back to the beaches man...

I miss everyone! I miss life there cos we're so super slack and everyday is either beach day or going out day! Think we've already walked the whole of sydney and its getting rather boring but I'll never get sick of the beaches! I miss spending my days with everyone like we're a big family.. But I'm glad that I'm back to the land where the food is damn cheap and good! Felt super deprived of good food for a whole month! Will probably be pigging out real often and getting fat! =p

And on the day that we were coming back, we had to check out of unilodge at 10.30am when our flight's at 5pm! Had no choice but to go to the airport and hang around till 5pm. Time passed rather quickly as we had to move slowly with our super heavy luggage. We found a luggage weighing machine and surprisingly, my check-in luggage was only 11kg!!!! Haha.. I thought the machine was spoiled la! Heh.. So I ended up checking in most of my hand-carry and ended up with a handbag and my laptop bag. =p The 2 of us each bought 2 dozen Krispy kreme! Haha.. They were SO popular that throughtout the whole flight, the flight stewards were all eyeing our donuts and asking for some. =p haha.. The flight was 7 hours but I only managed to watch 1 movie cos they kept having to restart the system! Sians.. Reached singapore with swollen feet, a trolley full of luggage and I got detained at the luggage chack becos the guy refused to let me past with my letter openers! Had to sign a declaration form though all the other police officers there felt that it wasn't ncessary. So suay.. =p

Last day in Sydney!
We went to the beach, the rocks, pancakes on the rocks, harbor bridge and walked loads and loads! Haha.. Mixed feelings! I duno wanna go back cos its so nice here but yet I miss home! Haha..
Packed and packed like crazy! I could easily stuff everything in my bag but it'll definately exceed the weight limit! How can it possibly be less than 20kg??!! Urghhh...

Just some fotos from the day I left and the first few days here.. Decided to start spending my internet credits since I have $10 to spend in 1 day!!! Ahhh.. Super waste of money! Almost done with all my aussie cash.. Spent all of it and used some visa.. Man... I don't wanna see my bank account when i get back..

We went for cliff walk today from Coogee beach to Bondi beach.. It was a real long long walk and we took about 3 and a half hours to complete the walk. The view was very scenic along the way and it was great! Gives me a great reason to miss Sydney when I get back.. The beaches here are so so nice! Singapore's beaches just look like patches of sand la.. Gosh!

2nd last nite here! Starting to worry about whether my luggage will exceed 20kg! Oh no! Will be damn expensive if I exceed.. Doesn't help when the people whom i am travelling with will definately exceed the limit! =p

We're going back! Oh man.. I dun wanna go back! Life here's fun and relaxed and going back means that I'll hafta start going for lessons! Sians.. But at the same time I miss home lots cos of the food and the familiarity of everything! sigh... I'll surely miss my room here at Unilodge and the beaches! Hope I get to go to the beaches again..
We went out for one last walk around the city area today. Walked from Paddy's Market to Queen Victoria Building and then to The Rocks. We crossed the Harbor Bridge today. It was really very scenic and though the sun was bright, the wind was damn strong and cool. So all the fotos taken of me had me with suoer messed up hair.. Then we decided to give Pancakes on the Rocks one last shot since it din taste that great the last time we had it. I tried the regular stack (which is 3 pancakes with ice cream and maple syrup) and it was great! It was too much for me but their pancakes with maple syrup is absolutely fantastic! =p
Then we walked back to Darling Harbor and saw the sunset there. Beautiful. Love this place.. :)
And I din get the lab session for the wednesday slot cos when the online registration started I was having lessons! Urghhhhhhh... And thats the only sesion that I can take! Shit shit shit..

School started today.. Sians.. My body seems to know it and I was feeling sleepy for the most part of the day,especially during lessons.. =p Anyways, we went to La Perouse beach to pick seashells today and we finally made it there without getting lost! Haha..
There are SO many sea shells that when you reach down and grab a bunch of stuff, all you get is shells and no sand at all! And walking on them is like doing foot reflexology! Haha.. Picked a record high number of seashells back and i think i'm almost bringing all the beaches in sydney back with the amount of seashells i have. I can probably open a store selling seashell wind chimes! haha..
On the bus back, there were a lot of young punks in the bus with us.. For the half of the trip that they were with us, I just kept feeling terrorised and it was horrible.. I would have been freaked out if I wasn't with other people. Scary!!

1st January 2007!!
Its a public holiday worldwide and when there're no shops open in a super slack place like sydney, we go to the beach! Haha.. But it started to pour like crazy the moment I was ready to leave so we changed our plans n decided to go pick sea shells at La Perouse beach while the temperature warms up. We took the wrong bus n ended up at the airport!! Oh man.. Haha.. So in the end we gave up and jus went down to Maroubra Beach to meet the rest.
Maroubra Beach is my absolute favourite! Its the nicest beach I've ever been to in Sydney and in my entire life. The waves are in increasing shades of blue and the sand is super white and cool. There're many many many pretty seashells on the beach. So many that it took me a long long time to walk to the area just in front of the flags. Between 2 flags are where there're lifeguards watching everyone and its supposed to be the safest place in the beach to swim. Heh.. Spent the rest of the day there..
Totally enjoyed my new year's day! =)

Happy New Year everyone!!!
Feels so cool to spend new year in Sydney! We were invited to lunch at Jason's place (he's a UNSW student who went to singapore for their side of the prog) and after that we headed over to the opera house where we planted our butts to the groud there from 4pm to 8.30pm for the first round of fireworks. And of course we stayed on for the countdown and the final fireworks display. Haha.. All the while we were trying to protect the limited space that we have and entertain ourselves. We played silly games like polar bear and sang songs. Think we were a very amusing bunch to look at especially when we're going crazy over who to kill next for the polar bear game.
The fireworks dispay is absolutely great! There were fireworks coming from the Harbor Bridge, Darling Harbor, opera house and even from the top of the buildings! Though the fireworks were similar to singapore, but the sight of the whole sky covered with fireworks is breathtaking. Would be better if Robin was there but oh well... haha..
Anyways, I've been warned by Ryan that we'll hafta walk back to unilodge after the celebrations but thankfully becos of our good karma, we managed to squueze onto the bus back!! YEa!

We went to Manly Beach today! We had to take a 45 minute ferry ride over to Manly and then we walked over to the beach. There're loads of surf shops along the way to the beach. "Traps" for me!! Haha.. Couldn't resist going into all the surf shops! When we finally make it to the beach, it was rather crowded already. The beach is much bigger than Bondi beach but the water is much shallower and no matter how far i walk, the seawater is only up to my waist. The waves were gentle at first but they got a bit rougher towards evening. And the water is filled with big and scratchy seaweeds!!! Arghh!! So scary!! They keep tangling themselves around my legs or I'll step on them!! Eeewwwwww....
We rented body surf boards.. They look like surf boards, just that they're shorter.. It was really really fun to catch the waves. I was quite lousy but the feeling of shiok-ness when I finally catch the waves are great! I get to woosh super super fast all the way to the beach! Haha.. But hafta try very hard not to crash into anybody and not to fidget so much so that I can stay on the board. Cool! Haha.. I wanna do that again! Too bad singapore doesn't have waves like Sydney.. Boo..
Very used to the life here now.. Too bad there's only 1 week left in Sydney.. Haiz.. Feel lost cos on one hand I wanna stay here and go to the beaches, explore and stuff, but on the other hand I really miss stuff in singapore.. Like the cheap and yummy ASIAN food, my car, my family, Robin, my bed and bolster, my cousins! Haha.. Loads and loads of other stuff too!! Man I think I bought a whole lot of things here.. I wonder how I'm gona bring them back.. Haha.. =p

I went to the Taronga zoo today!! We took a ferry from Circular Quay and the ferry took us past the Sydney Opera House and the Harbor Bridge. The view was spectacular. The sun was bright but the breeze was cold. Whats new right? =p
The zoo is rather different from Singapore. The cages were more like cages and the animals looked very pitiful when they're all cooped up in the small space. The koala bears are so cute!! Spent the whole day there and then went on a cable car ride to the ferry terminal. :) Love the cable car ride.. =p

Christmas today!!
It was a great day!! Cos we finally went to beach! we went to bondi beach and it was gorgeous! The sun was bright and warm, cool breeze, blue blue sea, gigantic waves, perfect for tanning!! Haha.. I got super black super quickly but i think it faded away by the end of the day.. Urghh.. why!! Nevermind.. I'll go to all the beaches in sydney and hopefully no one can recognise me when i get bakc to singapore! haha..

We made christmas dinner and had a party in our apartment tonight! On the menu was:

Turkey (which we din eat cos it took so long to cook, its lying around in the fridge now)

Merry Christmas!!!

Quite surprised that we managed to get around to all the places without getting lost much. Mainly because we always plan what we want to do the day before and then get maps to go around the places. We didn't go to much shopping places these few days since we go sight-seeing most of the time. Spent a lot on food though. Been having good food this weekend. We went to have Pancakes on The Rocks yesterday, which was very sinful with the choc sauce and choc pancakes. Today's lunch was at a little diner at a beach in Botany Bay and dinner was at Hard Rock Cafe. The food was great!
We went to La Perouse Museum today. It is at a quiet little town area and it had a beautiful little beach! The wind was a little chilly but the beach was nice!! It had white sand and there're loads and loads of seashells on the beach! There're really small and cute, different from those that we get in Singapore. Hee.. I picked so much seashells that I think I cleared the whole beach. =p
After that we headed towards town and went to the Australian Museum. The place was ok.. The weather today is sucky.. Drizzling all the time.. Urghh.. Its been like this for 3 days already. Hopefully tmr is bright and sunny cos we're going to the beach! Tanning day! Think the normal sun is enough to make me get a little darker..Haha.. But I can't really tell.. =p
After dinner at Hard Rock Cafe (which closes super early at 8.30pm), we had drinks at a super crowded pub called Scruffy Murphys. The beer was damn cheap. A mug of kilkenny only costs A$5!! Haha..

Holidays have begun for us! Loads of planning so that we can all get to go to the places that we wanna go. We went shopping at East Gardens yesterday and the clothes there were really cheap! Haha.. Bought some tops and some shorts for me and Robin. Haha.. We went grocery shopping after that and me and kaiyi spent about $40 plus on groceries! Haha.. That's considering we bought all the budget stuff cos everything's so expensive!! We wanted to get bananas but they cost about $5 for a bunch! We also got stuff for our christmas party!! We're having turkey, pasta with sausages and mushrooms, cocktail, alcohol, garlic bread, ice cream and some other stuff. Feel super excited already! Haha.. Christmas is so near!! But the city has very little decorations unlike Orchard Road in Singapore. Haiz.. Not much christmas-ish atmosphere but I guess we can get the feeling with more christmas songs!! Haha..

We went to The Rocks today!! It was a pretty place that has an antique feel to the place. Took loads of shots and went sightseeing a lot. We went to the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Along the way, we decided to imitate America's Next Top Model and took a whole lot of poser shots. Haha.. It was hilarious. I bet all the passers-by must be thinking that we're crazy. Haha..

We finally went to town today! Had the physics lecture in the morning, after which we rushed out of school to get on a bus to town. Walked from central station to Darling Harbour to get to the Sydney Fish Market for lunch. The walk down Darling Harbour was great and very scenic. Snapped about 60 odd fotos just walking to the fish market. Felt super tourist-y holding my camera and snapping a shot every 5 steps i took. Haha..
Lunch at the Fish Market was great!! I was very shocked that the place was totally filled with restaurants selling super fresh seafood! We shared a seafood platter, which wasn't too ex, and it was really great! Yummy!! There were loads of gigantic crabs, lobsters and oysters around!! Woah!!
Went down to the powerhouse museum for an assignment. Nothing much there.. We went off quickly for shopping after that at Darling Harbour. The clothes were really not too ex and the shopaholics in our group went really crazy. Haha.. Only bought 1 top today but I'll spend more next week! Haha.. Bought souvenier stuff at paddy's market too.. Heh.. Can't wait to post fotos.. Wun do it now cos we hafta pay for the amount of internet we use!! =(

Yup and the interesting discovery of the day.. Someone commented that we had a strong singaporean accent! How strange is that? Never thought that we had an accent too! Haha..

First 2 days of lectures in UNSW!!

Lectures start at 9.30am and end at 5pm everyday. Its still quite slack cos we have a 2 n a half hour break in between lessons. Lunch breaks are usually spent at the library lawn where we get food (takeaway or packed sandwiches) and coffee. The library lawn is a very shady and windy area. The carpet grass is very very clean and cooling to sit on and its our favourite lunch area. There's a small push cart that sells fantastic coffee thats not too expensive. I'm slowly getting used to the life here and all the expensive stuff. Trying to not spend too much but there're some neccesities that are really way way overpriced..

We're trying to finish up 2 modules this week before the Christmas and New Year holidays and there's really alot of work to do. We have reflection essays to write everyday for the module about the Aboriginal Popular Culture n its really crazy. By the time I'm done, its already 2 plus am here. And strangely, I wake up at about 6am here every morning though my alarm's at 8. The sun's already bright at 6am, which is very strange. Haha.. I thought i was dreaming when i woke up.

The Aboriginal Popular Culture module is interesting but somehow I can't shake the feeling that the lecturers (Aboriginal Australians) still feel very ostracized and they seem to think that we have no idea what its like to be living in a place where there're alot of different cultural groups. Gets on my nerve sometimes when they try to say something and hint that they are obviously STILL angry and unhappy at. Well, I guess it can't be helped since just 40 years ago they were classified as fauna n kept in reserves. Its really quite derogatory. Bleah.. We played some Aboriginal games that are supposed to teach us how to hunt for food. I think I'll starve if I'm an Aboriginal. =p Totally sucked at the hunting game but managed to "catch a fish". =p

Can't wait for the holidays next week!! I so wana go to the beach!!!!!

Smith’s Lake
6 days of leeches and ticks!! Smith’s Lake was fun and totally away from any form of civilization. It was still fun. We set traps for rodents in the woodlands and swamp areas, traps for bats, went frogging, spotlighting and bird watching. Caught quite a few bush rats and a bat. The bat was super cute! Its only the size of half a palm! We tried to feed it a termite but it was too terrified to eat I think. =p Frogging was fun too! Especially when we tried to catch the “whart” frog. Haha.. The frog was supposedly super hard to catch since it burrows and hides itself in the soil. With our combined efforts, we managed to catch it. Quite an accomplishment!
Everyday was pretty much the same routine. Wake up at 5.30pm. Go out to the forest/swamp to see if we had caught any animals or to bird watch. Then we would go back to the common area for breakfast. Lecture’s at a little house nearby from 10am to 12pm. Lunch is usually around 1pm, followed by lab sessions at 2pm. After dinner at around 7pm, we either go spotlighting or bats catching or frogging. It was a rather tiring routine and I was hardly ever awake for the lectures, except for the last one because I drank coffee in the morning. Yup so I can’t live without coffee. The first thing I did when I got back was to get a bottle of coffee powder. =p
The rooms were just as I had expected. Disgusting! Haha.. There were 6 double decked beds in our room and the mattresses looked like they were 10 years old and never cleaned before. There were always bugs and flies and spiders everywhere in the room. We all slept in sleeping bags on the beds and we usually look like cocoons cos we were all trying to hide from the bugs. We used insect repellent like it was free to guard ourselves against the mozzies in the forest. There were so many that I could see a wall of them in front of me when walking around.
Meals were cooked by Joanne, one of the teaching assistants there. We were all split into several groups and we had different duties to do everyday. We had to clean the toilets, prepare meals and clean up after meals. Basically, we just helped to cut up the food and stuff for cooking but it was really fun. The food was mainly Western style, except for Thursday when we had curry with rice. It felt super good to have rice. Really makes me realize how I’m used to the Asian diet of rice. Lunch was always the same – sandwiches and brekkie was toast and milo. The lecturers were so surprised at the amount of milo that we drink. We finished up a can of milo powder in a day! They were really curious about our version of hot chocolate and we made a milo dinosaur for Adam, who teaches us about animals.
We didn’t really study much and during our breaks, our main pastime was Frisbee!! We played ultimate Frisbee on 2 days and it was really addictive. Running around warms me up so that I dun feel cold in the strangely wet and cold summer. We also had a chance to interact with the rest more since I’m not a life science major like the majority of the rest on this trip. Ultimate frisbee rules!! We also played table tennis but it usually ends up like a laughing session for me cos I really suck a table tennis and the ball is almost never on the table. =p
There are a lot of celebrity look alikes on this trip. We have Ix Shen, Jay Chou, Sun Yanzi, Kylie (Kai yi) Minogue and Yan Xing Shu! Somehow my nickname became Miss Hongkong, which I have no idea why. Haha..

Leaving for Sydney

The long awaited day.. Had dinner with my family and Robin and I still didn't feel that it was real that I was going to Sydney all by myself. We reached the airport early and decided to walk around. Had coffee at the kopi tiam in T1 while waiting to meet my friends at 8pm. We all were super shocked to see that the other 2 girls had much larger luggage bags than mine and the total weight of the 3 combined luggages to be checked in was 59.7kg when the maximum for us was 60kg! Man.. I wonder how we’re going to come back.
We still had some time before check in and my family went up to the viewing gallery. There were many Qantas planes around but they all seem to be the smaller sized jets. Felt super reluctant to leave my parents and Robin and being the super crybaby that I am, tears kept rolling out of my eyes. In the end I had to go meet up with the rest with red and puffy eyes and it was super obvious that I was tearing. So embarrassing! Tried super super hard to control the tears so that they don’t start falling down in streams and checked in quickly. Felt sad waving bye to my family and not seeing them.
We took a long time to walk to our gate cos it was all the way inside and while waiting to enter the waiting area, I called my parents and Robin to say the final goodbyes. My face immediately turned red and I think it was very obvious. =p
We got the last row of seats and it was a row of 3. I sat in the middle and I watched You, Me and Dupree! Haha.. But the show wasn’t as entertaining as I expected. Tried super hard to sleep on the flight but I only managed to get at most 2 hrs of sleep. Luckily the transit was short.
When we got out of the Sydney airport, we got a taste of what was meant by the bright sun and cold wind. The sun was warm on the skin but the wind was cool. We squeezed 10 people and their humongous luggage into a maxi taxi to Unilodge. The cab meter jumps like every 2 or 3 seconds and it was very scary to watch. Haha..
My room is fantastic. It has a study table with a shelf, a cupboard with giant sliding mirrors, and best of all, I have a balcony! Haha.. Super super nice just that the room looks a little plain with all white furniture and white walls, except for an orange wall. =p Well, we’ll see what we can do about that.
We went shopping for food and other stuff at the supermarket and the stuff here is real expensive! Its crazy. The food places here are so limited and they don’t look appealing at all! Haiz.. I wonder how I’m going to survive the month here with my limited cooking skills and the limited cooking stuff available. Where’s all the good food everyone said?
And the wind at unilodge is crazy. Strong and chilly.. Woah! My room feels air conditioned even without the windows open! Still miss everyone lots.. Hope I get used soon..

Day 1: Orientation at UNSW

Culture shock. Yes I am experiencing culture shock. Different environment, different food and different time zone. Waking up at 7.30am here is equivalent to waking up at 4.30am in Singapore. Sianz.. The days are super hot and super windy. By evening, the temperature drops drastically and the winds get colder. It rained on our way back to Unilodge and we had to run in the rain. Not a good experience.
Lunch was a buffet at the Square house. The food look yummy but somehow I just feel that putting all of them together in a plate is totally weird. The food all taste very strong and I had trouble trying to finish up the food. Fruits! They had fruits at the buffet! Ate a whole plate of fruits (had to give up space for the cheese cake) so that I get some vitamins and perhaps aid in the er hemm digestion process.. Haha..
We walked to the Ran-something Square to find out all the places we can get groceries and I finally saw a supermarket that resembles those in Singapore. The stuff are still expensive as usual but at least they have variety. But they check everyone’s bag after payment in case someone shoplifts. Strange..
Took a bus down to the town area today. Walked through Chinatown. It was really short and the shops there were mainly restaurants. Had dinner at a place that looks like Hard Rock Café. I ordered Bangers and mash and its really yummy! The mash was good but the serving is big! They give every customer a remote control shaped thingy which buzzes when the order is ready for collection. So cool! Haha..

The last day of my holidays.. Went to JB with Danny as our tour guide and Eugene and their lab mates. It was a very fun day and met some new friends who were a very nice and funny bunch. Haha.. We reached the Malaysia side of the causeway at around 12pm and went for lunch with Danny's mum at a place that had fantastic duck rice. Danny's mum treated us to lunch.. Though it wasn't very expensive, considering the food and place was restaurant quality, but I still felt bad.. =p
After that we went to City Square to walk around a bit. The shopping mall was very much like those giant malls in Singapore. All the shopping malls we went to were similar to those in Singapore, they even had their version of Vivocity and its called Trebrau City (i tink that's what its called). Super big shopping mall with many brands that can also be found in Singapore. :)
We got sick of shopping pretty soon but we managed to hang around till dinner time. We met up with Jenny (Danny's girlfriend) and had nice seafood at Taman Sentosa. We each had a crayfish, Lala, wild pork and stingray! I love stingray! Haha.. The food was super yummy and I really enjoyed myself more than I thought I would. =p
Danny borrowed his aunt's car and drove us around. It was a mini hatchback like mine, but slightly bigger. We still had a hard time trying to squeeze 3 big sized people with a mini sized girl in the back seat. Haha.. And silly eugene had the comfy front seat to himself cos he's the biggest size! =p The traffic condition was rather bad and the roads are totally jammed pack. I was super impressed by Danny's driving skills.. Weaving in and out of the jam and manouvering the car through the small little spaces..

Only less than 24 hours from my flight now.. Feeling super nervous and excited and yi yi bu she.. I can already feel how homesick I'll be during my trip. Really don't feel like going cos I'll miss everything here but I just feel that if I force myself to do this, I'll become a more independent person since I've been so dependent on my family and friends so far.. Haiz..

So I guess the next time I post an entry would be next weekend cos I'll only get internet connection next Tuesday but I'll be away at the Smith Lake station from Tuesday to Friday. Hopefully by the time I get back, I would have settled in.. =p

Met up with loads of people today! Went for movie and lunch with sijia at causeway point today. We watched 'After This Our Exile'. Its a rather artsy film which I would not have watched if she hadn't suggested it. It was a little long but quite nice. Really shows how a bad relationship between parents will cause the kid to suffer. Really felt very sad for the little boy in the show. Heard he won the best newcomer award or the best supporting lead actor in the golden horse awards.

Went home to pack my stuff and then washed car. Should be the last time I wash it in a long time. Heh..

Met Phyllis, Constance and Beelian in town for dinner at sakae and earthquake!! Haha.. Cons didn't know what's an earthquake la! Haha.. Silly girl. Phyllis' camera had this function which can take fotos of half of 2 people's faces and then combine them to form 1 face. Since many people used to day that me and cons, phyllis and bee lian look alike, we decided to try to fit our faces to see if we look alike. Surprisingly, we really do look alike!!! Me and cons had similar eyes and noses (our noses pieced together to form a normal looking nose la! ) and beelian and phyllis had similar noses and mouths. Interesting.. Hmm.... =p

When we were there, the 2 guys at the table next to us tried to leave the place without paying! We were at the swensons next to paragon and they left the restaurant via the walkway to the hotel lobby. Lucky the staff were alert and managed to 'invite' the guy, who just had to go to the toilet before trying to leave the building, back to pay the bill. Apparently we were looking too obviously and the manager guy came to talk to us about it. Haha..

Movie with meiyue, constance and siaohui! We watched deja vu at the cathay. My first movie at the cathay! The place is so nice!! Haha.. Yup. Cathay has the best cinemas in Singapore! Hee.. The movie was great!! It was about time travel and crime. Sort of like CSI with space travel. Haha.. But the plot was very attention grabbing (like Ms Chew always says.. =p) and I really felt very excited and anxious throughout the whole show!! Everyone must go watch!! The physics part of the background of the show was about wormholes and I really felt that I should have written something like that for the PC1325 term paper.. Confirm will get A+! Haha..

Finally after a long long time, blading!! It was great weather for blading, got slightly burnt and fell twice. First time cos robin fell and i tripped over him and ran over his finger. Lucky we were not ice skating! Haha.. The second time I crashed into a boy on his bike.. Haha.. So now i'm gona have painful butt again.. Haha..

Had dinner at Earle Swenson's today. The view was very very nice and the staff were all strangely polite. Haha.. Maybe cos we're not used to having good service.. =p We had the crayfish pasta for two.. Quite nice, proportion was just enough for 2 girls.. Haha.. So being the hungry souls that we are, we went in search of more food after that. We tried the hot dogs at Super Dog. It was rather pricey but the chilli cheese fries are yummy!!!

Distracted. Feeling very distracted. Maybe its cos I have to study for CM2161!! Its my most hated module.. Haiz.. Don't feel like I've understood anything the lecturer teught. Will have to depend on my luck tmr.

Freedom in just 24hrs!!!

Looked through some of the posts since I started the blog. Its really been a long year and so many things have happened. Fotos always have the ability to make it seem like everything is just so perfect and happy. Looking at them made me wonder whether my decisions were right. But thinking of the moments that could never be captured by the fotos, it just feels that there is no way that I'll want to go back to the way it was before. Haiz.. But sometimes I just can't help but feel pity for a lost relationship. Looking back at myself at the start of the year, everything seemed so different. I wonder how the next year will be and what changes will come.

Clementi central is bird shit heaven. Everytime I park my car there, it gets bombarded by bird shit. Not jus one but at least 10 plus ALL OVER the car.. The only time I didn't get any was when i parked in between 2 tress. Went there for dinner with eugene last night. Decided to park at any lot since it was late and i assumed all the birds have already settled their 'business'. But no...... When I came back, there were 6 on the windscreen, 5 on the left window, at least 3 on the top, 6 on the front, and many many small drops all around the car. I so wanted to pull my hair off at that moment. Took me 30 plus minutes to clean them off when i got back and used up all the water i had and the whole box of tissue. URGGHHH.. Damn birds! Maybe its just the colour of the car. Maybe orange means toilet in bird language. Shessshhh... Plus my dad was laughing at me when i got back and he refused to help me!!

Kept thinking of how the car is disgustingly dirty while studying today. Bird shit can never be cleaned off conpletely with jus water. Uric acid is insoluble in water!! Finally, I decided to go wash the car to get rid of the bird shit. Was actually planning to wash the car only on sat morning after the exam. So anyways, the car is nice and sparkling clean now. Maybe i'll polish it this sat. Haha.. I sound like some crazy cleanliness freak.

I made an amazing discovery the other day when i was washing the car with my dad. The magic orange cloth thats suppposedly able to absorb all the water off the car never ever seemed to work previously. Apparently, to make it absorb water, it has to be wet in the first place! Haha.. SO all this while i was doing the wrong thing! So I tried it out today and it really works! AMAZING! 0.0

So the leassons learnt:

1. park at the mscp at clementi (need to put parking coupons) or park in between 2 trees which have very little branches and leaves in the open air carpark.

2. Dun get an orange car. It attracts bird shit.

3. WET the orange cloth before you use it to DRY the car.

YAY!! No more metabolism!

My very first evening paper in NUS.. Strange but true. Most of my papers were mostly morning, some noon. Hate evening paper.. My stomach growled damn loudly in the first 15 minutes of the paper! Haha.. So paiseh..

The metab paper was....strange.... Flipping through the paper, 20 mcqs.. hmm ok.. Then 5 short answer qns.. All 1 to 2 marks each! HUH.... Then I stunned for some time.. Haha.. How do you grade a qns that says "describe the actions of insulin on carboh and protein" in just 1 mark?! Haha.. I even feel silly writing a 2-paragraph answer for that.. Haiz.. Let's just hope that they're really asking for SHORT answers.. =p I guess they set their papers based on how the cohort did for the CAs. The 2nd CA was much easier than the first cos everyone did badly for the first CA. Maybe everyone did badly for the second CA too and so they thought that we're really hopeless, better give them the easiest paper. Haha..

Well.. At least the worst is over! No more cramming of enzyme and substrate names and memorising reactions and mechanisms! Haha.. So happy that I feel that the exams are over.

One more paper to go! And its the most disgusting module I've got. I'm almost 100% sure that I'll get a C for this module. I've never been able to understand the lectures and I'm pretty sure that I've never been able to solve a single problem correctly since level 1. Heh.. Nvm! Its time to rest my brain today! Worry about that tmr!!

Haiz.. FST paper was a total killer.. Was stuck at "why water activity does not affect lipid peroxidation" when its so obvious la!! URGHHHH.. Wanted to kill myself after that.. Drew super a lot of sugar molecules and lipids (espcially when its 10 marks for the structures and there're 10 000 possible permutations of the freaking linoleic acid after hydrogenation) Haha.. I practically gave up drawing the structures.. =p

First day of exams!!

Finally exams have started. Haha.. I know I sound crazy cos I seem so excited about having exams. =p Actually I'm excited cos this means that the exams are ending soon and holidays are coming!! YAY!! Haha.. Totally not in the mood to concentrate and study for exams la! Actually my exam timetable quite slack, jus that I have funny exam hours this time round.

Today 9am : ES2007s

Tmr 1pm : FST2102 (we have assignment to submit too la.. disgusting..)

Tues 5pm: LSM2201 (crazy module with a crazy amount of stuff to study and the exam's at a crazy time. My stomach'll definately growl by 6pm =p)

Fri 9pm: CM2161 (finally this is the last time I'll ever touch chemical processes.. ewwww...)

Haha much slacker than con's mon to thurs.. =p Met xinyi before exams today cos she's taking the same module. Her tutor's Ms Chew too and she said that Ms Chew told her that we look alike!! Haha.. I seem to look like a lot of people.. Maybe I have a universal look?? Haha..

Holidays start officially next fri at 11am!! Yay!! Haha.. So many things I wanna do!!

Only 16 days more to 9dec! Getting super excited and I'm always thinking of what to pack when studying! Haha.. Easily distracted when mugging. After so much confusion and anxiety, I FINALLY know whats going on with my flight (which has not been confirmed up to now).
So we have a flight with Qantas on the morning of 9 dec and we'll reach at 7.30pm on 9 dec. Super early and we'll have no place to stay for the night! Haha.. Should be quite exciting to run around the place and explore but I think I'll probably be half dead from the super long flight. We have confirmed flight back too but we're on the waiting list for other flights that leave Singapore later.
As for Singapore Airlines, we have a flight there but we're on the waiting list for a flight back! Haiz... FAN!!!

Well on to another day of studying.. Tmr's the start of exams!!! Finally! Lets get it over and done with!

Exams exams! Hate exams! Sigh.. But somehow I feel rather relaxed so far.. Well maybe cos I've already settled 2 modules and out of the 4 exams I have, 2 are open book! Haha.. But i'm so gona die for CM2161.. Haiz.. Open book also no use! =p

So bored of studying that I went to count the number of lab reports I did for this sem. Its crazy.. I did a total of 17 lab reports!! Man! Thats crazy right? Think I've become pro at writing lab reports but I got B for most of my reports.. I'm really an average B student.. =p

FST's crazy too. We have an assignment to hand up on the day of our exams! And it really silly. We're supposed to determine the pI of lipoxygenase using the primary sequence. Which means that we have to calculate the degree of disscociation for EVERY ionisable residue at EVERY pH and then determine the net charge of the damn protein at EVERY pH and finally plot a graph to find the pI. How tedious la.. Spent the whole of last nite doing it and my eyes almost popped out from staring at the spreadsheet. =<

Okok.. I'm just delaying time.. Haha.. Supposed to start studying metabolism but I'm feeling super reluctant! Haha.. Its a crazy module la.. I'm sure the exam's gona be damn difficult. Urghhhhhh....

Okies nevermind! Tonight's episode of the Goong show looks exciting! Hee! Looking forward! =D

Can't help but watch anime all the time! Haiz.. Just finished watching 2 seasons of Tsubasa.. Haha.. Well its about this princess who lost all her feathers (which are her memories) and she's on a journey to other worlds with a bunch of people to find all her feathers.. It takes around 2 episodes to get one feather back.. YESH.. Its draggy and I wonder how many more feathers she still needs.. Haha.. But its still very nice! Haha.. Started reading the comic last year (i think) and I was super excited when the anime came out. The anime is so much nicer than the comic! Man.. I'm considering whether i should go get the season 3.. I wonder if its out already.. Sigh.. So nice.. Hee..
So far.. I've watched Tsubasa til episode 53 and Bleach til episode 102.. So waste time right? Haha.. Sometimes i feel that if i used the time i spend watching anime studying, maybe i'll do better.. =p Then again, maybe not! Haha...

Yay! The horrible week is finally over! Haha.. Still got 1 more lab report (which is worth 3MCs!!!!!) to go.. Haha.. Feel so relieved but still got exams.. haha.. hmm.. din do too badly for the metab test today cos the qns were pretty straightforward.. But the oral presentation was terrible.. Hope i can pass!! Haha..

Shall give myself a break for today.. Anime time!! Yay!! Haha.. I can finally watch anime without having to worry about eating into study time.. =p
